MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho --
Seven congressional advisors from Nevada, Oregon and Idaho visited here, July 19.
They visited to see how Mountain Home AFB and the range complex operates firsthand.
“This visit produced a better understanding of the Gunfighters combat capabilities,” said Chief Master Sgt. David Brown, 366th Fighter Wing command chief. “We were able to communicate not only what we can do for our nation, but the support we, and our families, provide to the state of Idaho and the town of Mountain Home.”
The delegates received a mission brief about the history of the base and the mission statement of Mountain Home AFB.
“The mission brief was excellent, I think that’s the best thing I’ve seen so far,” said Sierra Robinson, legislative assistant to Idaho senator Mike Crapo.
Along with a windshield tour, the advisors observed several joint aircraft take off in participation of Gunfighter Flag, a quarterly training exercise.
Delegates rode in a Black Hawk out to the Saylor Creek Range Complex, where joint military training regularly takes place.
“Getting to be in Black Hawks and test fire a fake missile was really awesome,” Robinson said.
At the range, delegates spoke to participants in the exercise and learned about what makes the Gunfighter team special: its people.
“I felt we were all very welcome and people were friendly and willing to talk to us,” said Robinson. “It was really pleasant.”
