MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- A Combined Federal Campaign Charity Fair took place Nov. 17, 2015, at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. The charity fair was an event that gave Department of Defense employees the opportunity to see 14 different charity representatives to receive information and answer any questions about their organization. 

Today, DoD employees have the chance to donate directly to over 20,000 participating charities from their myPay account and through their local CFC representative.

The campaign gives people the chance to donate to both local and national charities, giving DoD employees the opportunity to give back to their communities and others around the world.

"I've been working with the CFC for the last two months now," said Master Sgt. Edward Bates, from the 366th Fighter Wing safety office. "It's eye opening how many homeless vets and kids there are in just our local area. There are a lot more charities around here than people think." 

Even first-term airmen are getting in on the action.

"This touches home to me. Some organizations help people in low-income communities," said Airman 1st Class Alphonso Carter, 366th Operation Support Squadron air traffic control apprentice. "I was raised in a low-income community so it's nice to see it help my brothers and sisters back home."

The charities not only help locals, but people in Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia and South America are all positively affected by CFC charities.

The deadline to donate for the CFC is Dec. 15, 2015.
