Public Health Food Safety Notice: Kayem Foods Inc. Recalls Chicken Sausage Products Due to Misbranding

MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Kayem Foods Inc. is recalling approximately 22,000 pounds of chicken sausage products due to mislabeling. The sausages are encased in pork casings, which aren't declared on the label.

Customers who purchased this product should not consume the sausage if they're allergic to pork proteins, as this may cause allergic reactions.

The Mountain Home AFB Public Health office is working with base establishments and has confirmed that our installation's Commissary carries the Kayem Foods 12-oz. vacuum-packed package of "al fresco, SWEET APPLE CHICKEN SAUSAGE". All items have been removed from the shelves.

The product identification code is "308 BW12 USE/FRZ BY FEB 7, 2016."

Products purchased at the Commissary can be returned for a full refund. For products purchased elsewhere, contact the location of purchase. Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Brenda Navaroli, Kayem Foods Customer Service Manager, at 1-800-426-6100.
