Taking care of a vehicle can be a challenge, especially during the winter months.

The 366th Force Support Squadron has expanded the hours of operation for the Auto Hobby Shop in an effort to keep Airmen from performing maintenance on their personal vehicles in the dorm parking lot or base-housing driveways.

The new hours are Thursday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m.

"We are expanding hours and will have a certified mechanic on staff to help with items Airmen may have questions with," said Tommy Brooks, 366th FSS community services flight chief.

The auto hobby shop offers customers a clean and spacious general repair area, equipped with multiple drive-on lifts and a large selection of tools to use.

"I went to a local car repair shop last week and was told I needed new sparkplugs, wiring, distributor rotator, and distributor cap," said 1st Lt. Karissa Greene, 366th FSS executive officer. "They were going to charge me $515.91, so instead I went down the street and bought the parts for just $85 then paid $5 for a flat bay at Auto Skills. Jerry, the certified mechanic, was a huge help and very knowledgeable. My friend and I were able to replace the parts ourselves in less than an hour."
