The Mountain Home Air Force Base public website has been revamped with new information and eye-appealing graphics to be a resource for you.

For military members who use the non-secure Internet in their daily jobs, log off and restart your computers - you will have a new default homepage. All others can go directly to http://www.mountainhome.af.mil/ to view the website and use the material available.

As a tool of the commander, the 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office maintains the website, which essentially serves as the electronic newspaper for the base, as well as a central hub for information.

Whether you just received orders to Idaho, are sponsoring someone who did, or are a longtime member here, there is information on this site that will assist you.

New eye-catching icons line the left and right side of the page that will lead to in-depth information about the base and activities. The Public Affairs Office would like to highlight just a few of those newly revised areas that may interest you.

Newcomers
As you prepare to make MHAFB your new home, the 366th Fighter Wing commander wants to ensure you have the information at your fingertips to make this a smooth transition. When you're "Getting Started" you'll find basic information about the mission of the base, how to get here, and where you can stay.

"Before Arrival" you may also be curious about what "Housing" is available or what "Education" is like in Idaho. This information is accessible in a few clicks. After "Settling In" getting involved with activities and facilities on base will help you feel a part of the community.

Gunfighter Spouses
For spouses and families who support active-duty members as they are called to go anywhere in the world, there are resources to help you "Build Connections" through programs such as Heartlink and the Airmen and Family Readiness Center. "Community Involvement" opportunities abound to meet others while helping those in need.

Participating in events on base can be difficult, if not impossible, when you don't know where to find out what's happening. "Upcoming Events" is designed to fix this. Many units maintain their own calendar, instead of duplicating efforts or trying to fit everything into one calendar, you can find links to calendars that may interest you in one location.

Court Martial Results and Alcohol-Related Misconduct
Though much of the website shares good news, it is also a tool to transparently communicate issues that the Wing is facing. Soon you will see the actions and consequences of Airmen who are involved in Alcohol-Related Misconduct posted below Court Martial Results. This site is designed to help all learn from others' mistakes and realize the results of bad decisions. Personal responsibility is essential in being a good Airman and helps us all become better Wingmen.

Much More
For those military Internet users who are accustomed to opening the web and linking directly to the Air Force Portal, don't worry. There is a link to the Portal at the top of the webpage for easy access. The purpose for having the MHAFB site as a default homepage at workstations is to be a local resource of information. But, whether you are at work or at home, please click around the website and find out what else it has to offer.

The Public Affairs Office will continue to add information and make updates to keep the information current and useful. The website is an evolving resource, so if you have ideas to make it better or information you would like to see, please email the 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office at 366FW/PA.Public.Affairs@us.af.mil
