Commissary names its warrior of the week

MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Officials with the Mountain Home AFB Defense Commissary Agency recently named the following person as their warrior of the week.

Verna "Jeannie" Dewey

Unit and occupation: Defense Commissary Agency, Meat Cutter Assistant

Time in the Air Force: 13 years civil service

Time at Mountain Home Air Force Base: 20 years

Hometown: Nyssa, Ore.

Hobbies: Gardening and arts/crafts

What service does Ms. Dewey provide to the Gunfighters? She gives the commissary customers straight forward and to the point answers and at the same time gives them suggestions and recipes.

Most memorable Air Force moment? "I enjoy participating in Mountain Home's Air Force Appreciation Day parade. There is camaraderie between the commissary employees and the people we serve and it is very special and dear to my heart."

Interesting personal fact: "I have worked with people from birth to 101 years old. I have taught preschool and worked at a youth center. I am also a certified nurse's aide and a geriatric nurse's aide. I just love people!"

Why does Ms. Dewey deserve to be a warrior of the week? "She has 13 years of dedicated service working in many different areas of the commissary. She is aware of what the customers want. She has the uncanny gift of looking at customers and knowing if they need assistance. She is there for the customer and wants them to have a great shopping experience."
