Officials with the 366th Fighter Wing Legal Office recently named the following people as their warriors of the week.

Tech. Sgt. Jerol Boyce

Unit and duty title: 366th FW Legal Office noncommissioned officer in charge

Time in Air Force: 15 years, 10 months

Time at Mountain Home Air Force Base: Five months

Hometown: Coos Bay, Ore.

Hobbies: Rock climbing, river rafting, camping and reading

What service does Sergeant Boyce provide to the Gunfighters? As the legal office NCOIC, he manages, plans and directs training, assignments and development of all paralegals and civilian support personnel assigned to the legal office. He serves as principal advisor to the staff judge advocate on enlisted matters.

Most memorable Air Force moment?: "My pervious career field was air transportation and I was on a C-141 going on a mission for Operation Deep Freeze to Antarctica and knew once we passed 37 degrees south, we were at the point of no return. We either had to land on Antarctica or evacuate the aircraft into the ocean. We landed on the Ross Ice Shelf, which is an endless expanse of ice and completed the mission. It makes you realize how fragile your life is in comparison to the greatness of the world."

Interesting personal fact: "I love foods other people would consider a bit odd, like smoked oysters, anchovies, spinach and liver."

Why does Sergeant Boyce deserve to be a Warrior of the Week? "In the short five months that Sergeant Boyce has been on station, he has become an invaluable asset to the legal office. Sergeant Boyce always goes above and beyond what he is expected to do, no task is too small for him to devote his full attention to it. Even though he is the NCOIC of the legal office and thus plays a management role in the function of the office, he always finds time to help out in day-to-day activities, whether it be helping a client or taking out the trash. He has just completed his first court-martial where he excelled at investigating facts to assist trial counsel prepare the case, conducting legal research and arranging travel for all the witnesses. Additionally, he has spent countless hours preparing the legal office for the upcoming Operational Readiness Inspection as an exercise evaluation team member. He is a model NCO, providing guidance to seasoned Airmen, as well as new Airmen."

My husband and I read 'Undaunted Courage' by Stephen Ambrose, which is about Lewis and Clarks' lives. One fall we went on a hunting trip in Salmon, Idaho rode our mules on some of the same trails that were traveled by Lewis and Clark. During our visit to Washington D.C., we were able to tour the Capitol Building and walk up some of the same steps Lewis and Clark walked as described in the book, it was an amazing connection to our Nations' history."

Interesting personal fact: "When I was a small child, I had a speech impediment. My mother encouraged me to take speech classes in junior high and high school to overcome this."

Why does Ms. Dugger deserve to be a warrior of the week? "Ms. Dugger has a precise legal mind, coupled with an ability to make things understandable, which makes her an invaluable attorney. She never misses anything and if you give work to her, you will get a complete, well-researched product back every time."
