The West division All-star team (intramural) defeated the East division All-star team (over 30) 111 to 89 in the All-star basketball game and extravaganza April 4 at the Gunfighter Fitness Center.

Prior to the tip-off, the base honor guard raised the colors as Staff Sgt. Gwen Brookins, 726th Air Control Squadron, sang the National Anthem. Following the conclusion of the anthem, Maj. James Beaty, 366th Services Squadron commander, served up the initial jump ball beginning the game.

The first quarter saw both teams evenly matched with the East team taking their only lead of the game 26 to 22 at the end of the quarter.

The West's team starting guard, Blaine Miller, started the game strong scoring 11 of his game-high 20 points in the first quarter.

The East team, led by Naronksuk 'Noon' Rawaekklang and his seven points, turned the game around. At the end of the half, the East team had taken control of the game, leading 54 to 39.

"As the younger team, we used any advantage we could over the other team," said Rawaekklang. "We pushed the ball up and down court to wear the West team down."

The second half of the game continued the beating of the older West team. The East team connected on seven shots from within the three-point arc and also made six of 10 shots from the free-throw line, while the West team could only sink four of nine shots from the charity stripe. After three quarters, the East team led 77 to 59.

During the final quarter, the East team started raining threes, hitting six shots from beyond 20 feet. The West team had their highest scoring quarter, recording 30 points in the quarter. However, they couldn't overcome the onslaught from the earlier quarters, falling 111 to 89 to the youngsters.
