366th FW public affairs names its Warrior of the Week

  • Published
Officials with the 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office recently named the following person as their Warrior of the Week.

Senior Airman Brandaun James

Unit and duty title: 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs graphic illustrator

Time in Air Force: three years and four months

Time at Mountain Home Air Force Base: two years and 10 months

Hometown: Marietta, Ga.

Hobbies: "I like to play basketball, read the news, and body fitness."

What service does Airman James provide to the Gunfighters? "I am the only graphics person on base, so I make all the graphics around the wing. Currently, I am working on the posters for the upcoming air show"

Most memorable Air Force moment. "I created 90 posters for the Installation Excellence Award package and when Mountain Home Air Force Base won the Installation Excellence Award, I was selected to go with Chief [Master Sgt. Allen] Niksich, [366th FW command chief] to go to Washington, D.C. and accept the award for the base."

Interesting personal fact: "I like to collect shot glasses."

Why does Airman James deserve to be a warrior of the week? "As the base's sole Air Force graphics person, Airman James has tackled an exhausting work schedule to create high-quality posters, pamphlets and presentation materials for agencies across the 366th FW. In addition, he's assumed greater responsibilities for shooting, editing and producing various video products in direct support of the Gunfighter mission. With the future of the Air Force graphics career field continuing to shrink due to ongoing force shaping initiatives, Airman James has never wavered from his devotion to this profession, and he continues to set extremely high standards and exceeds these standards every day."

Senior Airman Megan P. Lyon

Unit and duty title: 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office public affairs specialist

Time in Air Force: five years

Time at Mountain Home Air Force Base: four years and seven months

Hometown: Goshen, N.Y.

Hobbies: "I enjoy sketching, painting and collecting vintage glass bottles."

What service does Airman Lyon provide to the Gunfighters? "I write articles for the base Web site about what the Gunfighters do to accomplish their missions. I also interact with the local media, local civic leaders and general public. In addition, I also host tours of the base to better educate nonmilitary members about the Air Force."

Most memorable Air Force moment: "On my last deployment, my husband and I were lucky enough to get deployed to the same location together."

Interesting personal fact: "I was born on Mother's Day."

Why does Senior Airman Megan Lyon deserve to be a warrior of the week? "Airman Lyon joined the public affairs career field a year ago and during her short time in the office, she quickly learned the unique facets of the job to become a skilled writer and photographer. Unafraid of new challenges, she stepped up and helped plan and conduct tours of the base, as well as organizing various high-level community support events involving key business and opinion leaders across southwest Idaho - a job usually tackled by someone with four to five years of hands-on public affairs experience. During the wing's recent operational readiness inspection, she was recognized as an Air Combat Command Inspector General superior performer."
