Base leaders officially opened the Sagebrush Inn's new hotel in a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 18.

Planning for the new facility began in September 2007 with a final cost of $3.5 million. The new facility has 46 rooms including five American Disability Act approved rooms, five distinguished visitor rooms and one General's Suite.

"The new facility has newer amenities and will make our guests feel more at home," said 1st Lt. Sarah Flackus, 366th Services Squadron lodging officer in charge. "It's also beneficial to the base because we were able to reutilize an asset that was going to be demolished, so in actuality, we were able to save the Air Force money as well as get the project completed and opened faster."

Some of the major differences customers may appreciate include the newer infrastructure versus the old inn built in the 1950s, vending machines, private baths and larger rooms. The new inn also offers a fitness center and two public bathrooms.

Rates are $39 for a regular room, $48.25 for a DV room and $53.25 for the General's Suite.
