Col. Kevin Connolly assumed command of the 366th Medical Group in a change-of-command ceremony July 7 at Holt Park.

Colonel Connolly replaces Col. Jerrold Flyer, whose next assignment is as the 376th Expeditionary Medical Group commander at Manas Air Base, Kyrgyz Republic.

"You truly embody the Air Force core value service before self," said Col. John Bird, 366th Fighter Wing commander to Colonel Flyer. "Thank you for your service to this wing."

In his remarks, Colonel Flyer touched on all the accomplishments the medical group achieved during his three years as commander.

"With half of our clinical staff deployed downrange, I still got a call from higher headquarters telling me that we had one of the best patient access records in the Air Force medical service and ask us how we did it," he said. "The answer was simple; we have great hardworking staff in this medical group."

Colonel Connolly most recently graduated from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington D.C. He also served as the 35th Aerospace Medicine Squadron commander and 35th Fighter Wing Chief of Aerospace Medicine at Misawa Air Base, Japan.

Colonel Connolly was commissioned through the Health Professions Scholarship Program in 1991. He and his wife Eve have four children: Kate, Keelin, Keara and Erin.

"Today, you add five squadrons and about 389 people to your family," said Colonel Bird to the newest Gunfighter commander and his wife. "They will look to you both for leadership and guidance and counsel for the next three years, and we are all looking forward to see where you guys will take them."

"My family and I want to thank each and every one of you for your heart-felt welcome," said Colonel Connolly. "Your tremendous hospitality has already convinced us that this will be a phenomenal tour. I will work hard to assure that we continue to provide stellar healthcare."
