Miss Idaho Kara Jackson visited Mountain Home Air Force Base Oct. 7 and 8 after receiving an invitation from Col. John Bird, 366th Fighter Wing commander.

"We were very happy to host Miss Idaho," said Colonel Bird. "Any time we can tell the Air Force story, especially to someone who reaches out across the state like she does, it's a win for our service."

During her visit, Ms. Jackson toured the base, read to fourth-grade students at the base primary school and received an orientation flight. According to Ms. Jackson, her flight in an F-15C Eagle was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

"This has been a really incredible experience to be able to see the military and all the men and women who serve our country on a daily basis," said Ms. Jackson. "It's been very motivational for me. I've come to appreciate the military more from experiences like this."

Ms. Jackson's visit is part of an ongoing civic outreach program coordinated by the 366th FW Public Affairs Office to help civic leaders better understand the military and build positive relationships with the surrounding communities in the state of Idaho.
