The base dining facility re opened its doors after a nine-month renovation project Sept. 1.

The Wagon Wheel Dining Facility, which has been closed for a more than $2-million renovation since Nov. 2009, opened its doors with a lunch special of seafood and steak for all meal card holders.

The project made some major changes in several different areas. Although the majority of the work was done indoors, the Wagon Wheel had minor repairs done on the roof. The facility also received all new electrical, HVAC, fire alarm components, interior painting and also the removal of one of the walls to make dining area one big room.

Many of the Airmen who attended the re-opening were glad to have the Wagon Wheel rolling again.

"The DFAC reopening will help me with my budget," said Airman Brandon Kilburg, 366th Equipment Maintenance Squadron. "I won't have to spend as much money buying fast food."

Airmen who came to the re-opening, received the opportunity to win two free airline tickets to anywhere in the country. The winner of the large drawing was Brandon Reich, 366th Component Maintenance Squadron. The Force Support Squadron will also host quarterly drawings for such things as digital music players for dining hall patrons.

Airman 1st Class Theresa Eason, 366th Medical Group Medical Technician enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy eating lunch with her squadron.

"It was a fun experience to hang out with my squadron," she said. "I'm glad the dining facility is open again."

On a daily basis the dining facility will offer a choice of fried foods, salads, fresh fruit, some type of hot meal, and a variety of drinks. The drinks offered vary from milk, fresh fruit juice, and soft drinks.

Throughout the day the Wagon Wheel will offer four different meals. They include: breakfast, 5:30 -8 a.m.; lunch, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.; dinner, 3 - 6:30 p.m.; and the midnight meal, 11:30 p.m. - 1 a.m.
