Community College of the Air Force Fall 2010 Graduation Scheduled

MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho --  The Mountain Home AFB Fall 2010 Community College of the Air Force Graduation Ceremony is scheduled for 10 am Nov 5 at the Gunfighter's Club.

The traditional graduation ceremony honors the dedication and determination of the individuals completing this academic achievement. The CCAF concept evolved in the early 1970s as a means of gaining recognition for Air Force training. Visionaries recognized the need to enhance the skills of noncommissioned officers as technicians, leaders and citizens, and increase their development as managers of Air Force resources. The Community College of the Air Force was established April 1, 1972 at Randolph AFB, Texas and is regionally accredited through Air University by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

One Hundred Thirteen Gunfighters have earned an Associates of Applied Science degree in their respective Air Force Specialty Code from CCAF. Four individuals have earned double degrees in secondary AFSC. The graduates balanced family obligations and military duties to complete the academic requirements that led to the conferral of the Associates of Applied Science Degrees. Unfortunately, many graduates will not be present for the ceremony due to Permanent Change of Station moves, retirement/separation, deployment and other responsibilities. Families and friends, commanders, supervisors and coworkers are encouraged to recognize and celebrate this educational milestone and honor the achievements those Fall 2010 graduates at the graduation ceremony.

The program highlights include a commencement address by Maj. Jeffrey V. Hunter, 366th Maintenance Operation Squadron commander, conferral of degrees by 366th Fighter Wing Commander, Col. Ronald Buckley, and the announcement of the Pitsenbarger Award(s) by Chief Master Sgt. (Ret) Carl Olsen. Chaplain (Maj.) Charles Montoya will offer the invocation and benediction, and our Master of Ceremonies for the program is Staff Sgt. Jonathan Crandell. A reception will follow at the Gunfighter's Club hosted by the base's Chief's Group, Top Three, Air Force Sergeants Association, First Sergeant's Group, Airmen Committed to Excellence, Boise State University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Park University.
