Gunfighters may now frequent the newly remodeled bowling alley snack bar, Strikers Grill, as the eatery reopened Feb. 25 after three and a half months of reconstruction.

The main floor of the modernized restaurant seats 100 patrons, and features two 55-inch televisions, an eight-foot big screen television and full surround sound. It also has two party rooms that seat a combined total of 40, and features 42-inch televisions on either side of the rooms. The renovation project cost $200,000 in self-help and joint funds to create.

John Bitrick, base bowling center manager, says this was a self-help project, as only two items were remodeled through contract - the flooring and the hood system inside the kitchen. Mr. Bitrick drew out the plans for the grill three years ago, and is happy to see his efforts come to fruition.

"It's awesome -- one of the best restaurants in the Air Force," he said. "Out of all of the bases I've been to, there's nothing out there that could touch it. The look and the atmosphere are entirely different. This is not your typical bowling alley snack bar."
With an up-scaled menu, the snack bar specializes in pizza and fine specialty sandwiches.

"They're the best featured sandwiches west of the Mississippi," Mr. Bitrick said.
Tech. Sgt. Gary Courterier, 726th Air Control Squadron heating and air conditioning, says the difference between the old and new snack bar is like "night and day."

"This place is awesome -- it looks like a sports bar," the sergeant said."You feel like you're downtown, not on base. It's really nice, the big screens are awesome. The food's great, the customer service is great. I'm sure it cost the squadron a lot of money to put this on, but it's definitely appreciated by the troops."

Strikers Grill is open from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays, 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturdays and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays. Gunfighters also have the option to eat at the Base Exchange's food court, Gunfighter Club, dining facility, flight kitchen, golf course, Kurly's, Subway and Burger King.
