The 366th Medical Group welcomed a new commander during a ceremony here May 22.

Col. Sarady Tan assumed command of the 366th MDG from Col. Kevin Connolly inside the Gunfighter club in front of spectators that included family, friends and local community leaders. Col. Bruce Smith, 366th Fighter Wing Vice commander presided over the ceremony.

Tan grew up in Oregon and completed his undergraduate in 1988 and graduate training courses at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore., in 1990. He graduated in June 1993 from the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine, Portland, Ore.,
with his Doctor of Medicine Degree.

Here at MHAFB he leads a full service 10-bed community-based hospital of more than 393 military and civilian members in five squadrons with $14.9 million in annual operating budget to provide comprehensive health care for more than 4,300-member fighting force and 24,000 beneficiaries. He directs a $151 million enterprise and oversees more than $88 million in medical budget, material, and contracts to support the 366th Fighter Wing and combatant commanders.

"It's an honor and a privilege to serve with the men and women of the 366th Medical Group."

Tan respects the responsibility that comes with following the positive footsteps left by Connolly.

"I felt comfortable coming in knowing that I have big shoes to fill, but I also know that I have walked into a great facility with a great team and can carry on that reputation."

Smith is confident in Tan's ability to lead the 366th MDG.

"Colonel Tan comes to Mountain Home perfectly seasoned to take the reins of the 366th Medical Group. As a commander in both CONUS and deployed squadrons, Colonel Tan has experience and working knowledge of what it takes to lead medics in their mission to provide superior care. Colonel Tan's diverse background combined with his experience and leadership talents make him the perfect fit to propel the 366th Medical Group to new heights," said Smith.
