United Healthcare Military & Veterans (UHC M&V) Integration

MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- On April 1, the TRICARE West Region contract will transition to and be managed by United Healthcare Military & Veterans (UHC M&V).

Those enrolled to MHAFB will no longer use TriWest as their contract provider. Instead, UHC M&V was selected as the new TRICARE West Region contractor on March 16, 2012. TriWest Healthcare Alliance protested the contract award but the protest was denied on July 2, 2012. Pharmacy, dental and TRICARE For Life contracts are not affected by the new West Region contract.

TriWest will continue to serve the 2.9 million beneficiaries in the West Region until United Healthcare begins health care delivery and TRICARE benefits remain the same under the new contract. Please keep in mind, however, TRICARE benefits are always subject to change due to Congressional legislation or adjustments in TRICARE policy.

Continuity of care remains a top TRICARE priority and the new contractor will make every effort to conduct a smooth transition to new providers. However, some TRICARE Prime enrollees may have to change their primary care manager when the new contract begins.

New claims filing and customer service addresses will be provided as the start of health care delivery approaches.

Please be aware that any referrals written prior to April 1 will have an expiration date of May 31. This means you will need to get a new referral from your Primary Care manager (PCM). This can be done by calling the appointment line at (208) 828-7900, option 11 and leaving a telephone consult for your PCM.
