With an aim for maximum efficiency, the 366th Medical Support Squadron pharmacy is currently working on a more effective way to check-in patients.

Slated for activation within the next few months, this computer-based system should streamline the patient check-in process.

"Basically, it will consist of two terminals out in the waiting room," said Maj. Robert Boulier, 366th MDSS diagnostics and therapeutics flight commander. "It's very similar to signing in at the Military Personnel Flight, where you simply fill out the name, date of birth and last four."

The updated system has the potential to significantly reduce patient waiting time.

"Our current process is every patient gets in line and checks-in individually face-to-face with our technician at the front window, which ultimately leads to very long lines and a lot of waiting," said Staff Sgt. Ashley Guimond, 366th MDSS narcotics custodian. "The new program will allow patients to check in via computer and input all of their information as well as differentiate if they are coming from urgent care or are active duty, in uniform. It then submits that information to the backside of the pharmacy and creates a queue based on priority."

This will also help the pharmacy better serve on-duty Airmen.

"This should eliminate the need for excessive waiting and allow us to get active duty members in and out quicker so they can return to their jobs and help contribute to the Air Force mission," explained Guimond.

Pharmacy leadership remains focused on their objective of serving all patients as efficiently as possible.

"I want to remind patients to make sure they activate their prescription with us," said Boulier. They can do it over the phone, come up to our window, or use the new computer system when it is up and running."

The pharmacy is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
