Currently, there are 1,600 Air Reserve Technician positions available within the Air Force Reserves. There are a few key differences between traditional reservists and ARTs.

"Traditional Reserves is one weekend a month, two weeks of annual tour so a combined 39 days a year," said Master Sgt. Javan Kimmel, 366th Force Support Squadron reserve recruiter. "As a traditional reservist, you're doing part time, you get full time benefits but part time opportunity there. As an Air Reserve Technician, you actually maintain your position Monday through Friday along with having a traditional (reserve) position also."

Active duty Airmen who are looking to transition to the reserves through Palace Front may be eligible to fill these vacancies.

"Technically any Air Force member, even non-military members are eligible," Kimmel said. "So you can be a civilian right now, and you can apply for one of those positions."

Kimmel explained being an Air Reserve Technician allows you to serve and still get what you want and need.

"So as life changes, how do we fulfill our wants and continue services along with the Air Force's needs?" Kimmel asked. "The ART positions allow you to fulfill both those roles."
