The 366th Fighter Wing gathered to welcome the new commander during a change of command ceremony, March 24, 2016, at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.

Col. Jefferson O’Donnell, the vice wing commander for the previous nine months, assumed command from Col. David Iverson, while Lt. Gen. Chris Nowland, 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) commander, officiated the ceremony.

“What a great day to be a Gunfighter in the state of Idaho,” O’Donnell said. “Susan and I are humbled by the opportunity to continue serving with you. General Nowland, I thank you and General Carlisle and Air Force leadership for having the confidence in me to serve as Gunfighter One.”

Iverson was awarded the Legion of Merit for his leadership during the $44 million runway construction among other feats. He will be moving on to the Pentagon to serve as the Senior Military Advisor for the Under Secretary of the Air Force.

O’Donnell will be responsible for a wing comprised of 4,200 military and civilian members, including a Republic of Singapore squadron.

“What I always remember is that I’m just the commander,” O’Donnell said. “I’m serving the Gunfighters and they are the ones who are executing the mission and so I’m humbled and excited for the opportunity to serve the Gunfighters.”
