Do you ever wonder what's going on around Mountain Home Air Force Base and want an easy and convenient way to access the information?

Well there's a free mobile app available to download called "My Military Communities," or MyMC2, on the Android Market and Apple's Application Store which enables you to find local activities with a click of a button.

The mobile app was developed by the 375th Communication Support Squadron at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. MyMC2 pulls event listings from each bases official organizational Facebook pages, and consolidates them into a one stop shop on local and base events.

"Currently, My Military Communities is now at 50 military installations Air Force and DoD-wide," said Staff Sgt. Christopher Davies, 375th Communications Support Squadron application development programmer. "The app supports over 450k total force members and over 1 million family members and retirees."

There are three tabs in the app, the "home", the "calendar" and the "directory" tab, to inform families about upcoming events.

The home tab consolidates all of the upcoming events. Once an event is clicked on, an additional pop-up will appear which will give a more detailed description, including time, location and a contact number. With the click of a button you can add an event to the calendar on your mobile phone, call the organization, open the organization's Facebook page or website right from the event posting.

The calendar tab breaks down events by specific days making it easier to navigate through to find if there's an event for the specific date.

In the directory tab is a list of multiple organizations which has contact information easily accessible for the public.

On the home page, in addition to event listings for MHAFB, there are two quick-call buttons, the Command Post and Airman Against Drunk Driving, this allows someone to click on the link and directly connect to the number, once talk is pressed.

All official units and organizations on base are encouraged to contact the 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office to link their official Facebook account to the Mountain Home application.

To download the app, users should visit their smart phone's app store or market place and search "My Military Communities" Or "MyMC2."
