Rebecca Ennis 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Information about Gunfighter Skies 2014 - Mountain Home Air Force Base's open house and air show - is now available in the palm of one's hand through a free mobile app. The Gunfighter Skies app can be downloaded today through the Apple Store or Google Play Store. The app is designed to prepare visitors for the open house, Sept. 20 and 21. "Everything visitors need to know about the open house is available on the Gunfighter Skies app," said Shelley Turner, 366th Force Support Squadron marketing director. "Maps are available to help access the base as well as parking. Users will also find instructions of what they can and cannot bring to the air show, and of course, the app has a list of performers and aircraft that will be on display - plus, so much more." The main page of the app highlights the theme for this year, "United in Excellence ... Forging the Future," and then allows users to learn more about the following: Map, Schedule, Sponsors, Vendors, Event Info, Aircraft, Contacts, Emergency and Photos. Material will continue to be added to the app as Gunfighter Skies 2014 approaches, enabling users to have the latest information. "This is the first time Mountain Home Air Force Base has used an app to share information about its open house, but in a time when a majority of people have smart phones, it just made sense to us," said Maj. Aaron Ruona, director of Gunfighter Skies 2014. "Before our guests even drive through our gates, they will have the show schedule at their fingertips." Mountain Home Air Force Base will open its gate to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, and the Thunderbirds, the Air Force's elite aerial demonstration team, are currently scheduled to perform at about 3 p.m. Download and use the app, which is compatible with iPhone and Android phones, to help plan the trip to base.
