The Mountain Home Air Force Base fitness center is undergoing various renovations scheduled to be completed in late December.

The project is aimed at improving the experience and quality of life of those visiting the center.

"We have paid close attention to what our customers are interested in," said Rick Holmes, 366th Force Support Squadron fitness center director. "These renovations are just one of the ways we are accommodating their needs."

The fitness center has refurbished racquetball courts one and two to house rapidly growing exercise routines such as CrossFit.

Weight lifters have also been taken into consideration as the old uneven gym floor has been replaced with safer rubber tiles, and brighter energy-efficient bulbs light the room.

"We also look forward to receiving $80,000 in weight equipment, which should arrive by mid-December," said Master Sgt. Freddie Foots, 366th Force Support Squadron section chief. "Some of the older equipment will be moved to the annex when the new stuff comes in."

The longest-lasting renovation will take place in the locker rooms.

"The tile floors and shower areas will be replaced with anti-fungal treatments, as well as improved with water drainage and ventilation systems to decrease mildew buildup," said Holmes. "This will be our final renovation for the year, which we hope to have done by Christmas."

"Thanks to the end-of-year funding, these improvements will make the fitness center a brighter and more dynamic facility for everyone on base to enjoy," said Holmes.
