Public Health Food Safety Notice: Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon

Kraft Heinz Foods Company is recalling approximately two million pounds of turkey bacon products that were produced between May 31 and Aug. 6. The recalled products may be adulterated, meaning they may spoil before the "Best When Used By" date. The company has received reports of illness tied to individuals eating the items.

Food poisoning from eating meat is usually the result of bacterial contamination due to improper handling, storing, or cooking methods. Symptoms start from four to 24 hours after eating contaminated food and range from mild to severe, and can include abdominal cramping, bloating, gas, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

The Mountain Home Air Force Base Public Health office is working with base establishments and has confirmed that our installation's Commissary carries Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon. To date, there have been no reports indicating that these products have caused any illness.

The Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon products being recalled are:

· Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon "Smoked Cured Turkey Chopped and Formed" 36 ounce pkg, UPC 071871548748
· Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon "Smoked Cured Turkey Chopped and Formed" 48 ounce pkg, UPC 071871548793

Customers who purchased one of the listed products should not consume them. Products purchased at the Commissary can be returned for a full refund. For products purchased elsewhere, contact the location of purchase. You may also contact Kraft Heinz Consumer Relations Center at 1-800-278-3403.
