Idaho Celebrates Month of The Military Child Published April 29, 2025 366th Fighter Wing MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Month of the Military Child is dedicated to honoring the strength, resilience, and sacrifice of the children of U.S. service members. MOMC was celebrated and honored here in Idaho this month and Governor Brad Little officially dedicated the month of April to MOMC. These young individuals face unique challenges—from frequent moves to extended separations from parents—and this month provides an opportunity to celebrate their courage and adaptability. At Mountain Home Air Force Base, leadership, families, and community members come together to host events that spotlight military children and the critical role they play in the military family. Activities range from school visits and appreciation days that strengthen bonds across the base. “The Month of the Military Child is a reminder that behind every uniformed Airman is a family that serves too,” said Domineek Haag, School Liaison Program Manager. “These kids carry the weight of service in their own way, and they deserve to be recognized.” The initiative also promotes awareness of resources available to military families—such as school liaison officers, counseling services, and youth programs—that help children thrive despite the challenges of military life. “Military children sacrifice so much in silence,” said Domineek Haag, School Liaison Program Manager. “Their strength and resilience are the backbone of our military communities. I hope awareness continues to grow, so these young heroes receive the recognition they deserve for the vital role they play in supporting our nation’s defense.” From the youngest toddlers waving goodbye at deployment gates to high schoolers adjusting to their third school in four years, military children embody resilience. As the 366th Fighter Wing continues to build mission-ready Airmen, it remains equally committed to supporting the families who stand beside them.
