Senior Airman Whitney Stephens, 726th Air Control Squadron Mission System Operator, was awarded Gunfighter of the Week Dec. 22, 2022 at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.

As an MSO instructor, SrA Stephens has been responsible for a career field-wide positional conversion, instructing five personnel for 1.2K academic hours on 112 training events and preparing 16 members to support AFCENT deployment requirements.

She co-chaired her squadron’s employment standards by rewriting and revising 31 pages of modernized tactics, techniques, and procedures, and aligning unit capabilities with Wing level strategic command and control objectives.

Stephens’s supervisor, Staff Sergeant Paul Mornones, Interface Control Technician, only expressed award winning qualities regarding her performance. As an instructor she spends countless hours ensuring that their entire unit is properly trained and understands the importance behind what they are doing. "Her positive attitude uplifts those around her and inspires change," Morones said. "She is always the first one to step up and volunteer her time to help other airmen and dedicates time to listen to their needs."

Finally, SrA Stephens managed intel oversight program objectives by orchestrating five training events and briefing 30 crew operators on ground control mission execution and tactics, enabling 60 quarterly intel training requirements.
