What service do you provide to Gunfighters? "As an F-15E WSO, I contribute to the combat readiness and effectiveness of the Gunfighters through successful employment of the aircraft's weapon systems."

Hobbies: "Waterskiing, snow skiing, backpacking, fishing and traveling."

Most memorable Air Force moment: "Dropping my first live 2000-lb laser guided weapon at the Utah Test and Training Ranger near Salt Lake City, Utah. The bomb directly hit the target and demonstrated the success of all the training we practice over and over when we fly sorties."

What is an interesting fact about yourself? "Even though I fly in an F-15E, I have a fear of heights. However, it doesn't affect my performance in the jet."

"Lieutenant Hammerbeck is deserving of this recognition based on his motivated attitude toward the Air Force's mission. He exemplifies the meaning of service before self by applying a proactive ethic toward any task before him. He is my go-to-guy for any task and excels even when given little to no direction on how to tackle a job."
