Warrior of the week -- 366th Medical Group Published July 6, 2007 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Senior leaders with the 366th Medical Group here recently selected the following person as one of its warriors of the week: 1st Lt. Jocelyn Whalen Unit and occupation: Group practice manager with the 366th Medical Group Time in service: Nearly four years Time at Mountain Home Air Force Base: Roughly three years Hometown: Anchorage, Alaska Hobbies: Shopping, family centered activities, traveling What service do you provide Gunfighters: "I lead business operations of nine clinics and serve as the access manager overseeing all outpatient appointments. I'm responsible for assessing clinical business activities and developing and implementing solutions to improve clinic performance. I am a key advisor to the executive staff on clinic productivity, budgeting and strategic planning." Most memorable Air Force moment: Her commissioning as an Air Force lieutenant. "It was the culmination of four years of hard work and dedication. My father, a retired [technical] sergeant in the Air National Guard, surprised me and purchased a new set of dress blues just so he could [present] my first salute. The look of pride on his face is one of my best memories." Interesting personal fact: "I was adopted as a small child and have since met and built relationships with each of my biological parents. It has been a wonderful experience getting to know my roots." Why does deserve 1st Lt. Jocelyn Whalen to be selected as a warrior of the week? "Lieutenant Whalen is a tremendous young officer. As my group practice manager for the past year, she has been responsible for juggling clinic schedules to ensure we maximize access in the face of deployments, loss of staffing, exercises and training demands.
