Gunfighters, community members celebrate Air Force's 60th anniversary Published Sept. 17, 2007 By Airman Samantha S. DeVries 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Gunfighters and local community members came together to celebrate the Air Force's 60th anniversary during a heritage observance here Sept. 14. The event opened to the public at noon and officially kicked off with the singing of the national anthem followed by remarks by Col. James Browne, 366th Fighter Wing commander, and a fly over with the base's F-15C Eagles and F-15E Strike Eagles. Members of the A-10 West Coast Demonstration Team joined a P-51 Mustang aircraft for a heritage flight and a short demonstration. An F-86 Saber Jet, A-10 Thunderbolt and C-130 Hercules made up static displays for spectators to view throughout the day. To showcase their respective missions and histories, each squadron hosted a unit exhibit for people to view from noon to 6 p.m. Other events continued throughout the day, including military working dog demonstrations, munitions loads and the base fire department's "wall of water" demonstration.
