Field Dining Facility provides necessary service Published Oct. 25, 2007 By Staff Sgt. Rodney D. Ivey 366 Fighter Wing Public Affairs MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- "Everything is Food" This is the name of my favorite song from the 1980 movie "Popeye." It was sung by the people of Sweethaven as they started their day. They were a hard-working people who understood that a good, solid meal will get you going when you are about to start or are just finishing a tiring day. The people of the 366th Services Squadron promote the same idea. During Exercise Sharpshooter 08-01, they are manning the field dining facility here. It is a compact and mobile version of a fixed dining facility. "The mission of the field dining facility is to feed the troops in a deployed environment," said Master Sgt. Edward Marallo, dining facility manager. "We have been serving about 150 people a day during the exercise." A field dining facility is used in a deployed environment until permanent facilities are established or the combat effort has ended or moved. Almost everything offered at a fixed dining facility is offered in the field from hot entrees to fruits and vegetables. A variety of beverages is also offered. "By giving Airmen a hot, nutritious meal we contribute to the morale, welfare and health of deployed personnel," said Sergeant Marallo.
