A military bus carrying 27 Airmen was involved in a single vehicle accident April 24 on Hwy. 51 at mile marker 60, resulting in 13 Airmen receiving minor injuries.

The 28-passenger bus was returning the Airmen, nearly all members of the wing's 726th Air Control Squadron, to the base from a training range where they were setting up for a military exercise.

According to personnel on the bus, as well as military personnel at the scene, while traveling at a slow speed, the bus blew its right front tire. The driver managed to maintain control of the vehicle preventing a roll over. The vehicle left the right side of the road and struck an embankment.

Ten personnel were transported by ambulance and personal vehicles to the base hospital. Three others were transported from the scene of the accident by life flight helicopter to Saint Alphonses Hospital in Boise, Idaho, as a precautionary measure.

All 13 Airmen were treated and released. The bus has been towed back to the base. The exact cause of the accident is under investigation.
