The 366th Operations Support Squadron Airfield Operations Flight is preparing for an air traffic system evaluation program inspection that will take place May 5 through 9.

The inspection, which is performed every two to three years, covers many areas of airfield management including but not limited to tower operations; radar approach and control, or RAPCON; flightline vehicle operations and current construction projects.

"The purpose of this inspection is not to give us a pass or fail grade, but to help us correct any discrepancies we may have," said Capt. Mark Zampogna, 366th OSS AOF commander. "No actual grade is awarded."

Being prepared is part of the airfield management team's daily routine.

"We've been ramping up for this inspection for more than a year, but we're always prepared because we live by our checklists," said Captain Zampogna. "Working by the book on a day to day basis keeps us on the right track."

According to Tech. Sgt. Rob Elam, a 366th OSS airfield manager, the airfield management team has recently gone through some changes and is currently short manned, but they are still pressing along with their mission of providing a safe and sound airfield and airspace where Air Force pilots can train.

"We've gone through a lot of challenges with our new building, a new radar system and a new training program," said Captain Zampogna.

"Being short on manning has been a challenge, but everyone has stepped up to the plate to ensure this inspection is a success," said Sergeant Elam. "We've got a great group of airfield managers."
