Lyon 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- It was a day of celebration and of remembrances at the Boise All Veterans Welcome Homecoming May 3 at the department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center parade grounds. The Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center hosted the celebration to honor veterans who didn't receive a homecoming when returning from service. "This day was about homecoming for all veterans," said guest speaker Brig. Gen. Gary Sayler, 124th Wing Idaho Air National Guard deputy commanding general. The day started off with the Treasure Valley Young Marines Color Guard posting the colors and the Pledge of Allegiance. After General Sayler's speech, the crowd was treated to music from three bagpipe bands. Attendees also enjoyed bar-be-que, live music, martial arts demonstration, job and education fair and other activities. "The generosity of the Boise community is what made this event possible," said Sharon Clark, VA event coordinator. "I also want to say thank you to everyone from Mountain Home AFB for having so many Airmen volunteer to help set up the event."
