Col. Jeffrey W. Maxwell assumed command of the 366th Mission Support Group in a change-of-command ceremony May 9 at Hangar 1333.

Colonel Maxwell replaces Col. Thomas M. Laffey, whose next assignment is as the Enterprise Support director for the Defense Logistics Agency at Fort Belvoir, Va.

Colonel Maxwell was most recently assigned as the infrastructure chief for the Secretary of the Air Force Office of Warfighting Integration at the Pentagon. He has also served as commander of the 1st Combat Communications Squadron, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, and as commander of the 4th Communications Squadron, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C.

Colonel Maxwell received his commission from Officer Training School after graduating from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1986. He received a Master of Science in systems management from the University of Southern California. He completed Air Command and Staff College in 1998, and received a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pa., in 2007.

Colonel Maxwell offered his thoughts on his new assignment.

"I am proud and honored to be your new commander," he said to the Airmen of the mission support group. "We'll continue to focus on readiness and combat capability, but we'll also keep a watchful eye to take care of each other, take care of ourselves and take care of our families. Together we'll continue the winning heritage of our organization and continue to provide the very best mission support."

"Men and women of the 366th Mission Support Group, this change of command is as much about you as it is about the change of leadership that stands on the stage today," said Col. James Browne, 366th Fighter Wing commander. "[The 366th Fighter Wing's] mission is to be ready to fight, prepared to deploy and support the Gunfighter team. You provide world-class support to the Gunfighter team, always."
