Fitness Expo offers Gunfighters healthy advice Published May 20, 2008 By Senior Airman Megan P. Lyon MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- (Editor's note: This is the third installment in a series of fitness articles that will run throughout the month of May in conjunction with Air Force Fitness Month.) The Gunfighter Fitness Center is scheduled to host a free Fitness Expo May 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Fit to Fight annex. During the Fitness Expo, there will be a free speedboat raffle, a sports swap and an aerobathan will be open to all participants. Outdoor recreation is raffling a speed boat for free. To participate, see a fitness center staff member at the event for an entry card. Entry cards must be stamped at every participating booth at the expo, and after completely filling in the card, participants must hand it in to enter the raffle. During the sports swap, individuals can sell sporting equipment or swap gear with other participants. All sport and fitness equipment are welcome. Items must be clean and in good condition. The fitness center will provide tables for selling items; call the fitness center to reserve a slot. Throughout the day attendees can also participate in various aerobic classes the fitness center offers. Classes will be held during these times: · 10:45 - 11:15: Spinning class with Gloria · 11:15 - 11:45: Turbo Kick class with B.B. · 11:45 - 12:15: Burn Fat Fast with Gloria · 12:15 - 12:45: Buns and Abs Express with Gloria · 12:45 - 1:15: Body Burn with Jessica Different booths will be set up to promote fitness and health. The 366th Services Squadron will have booths for the fitness center, health and wellness center, outdoor recreation, Gunfighter Club, bowling center, arts & crafts, Silver Sage Golf Course, Wagon Wheel Dining Facility, youth center and many more. The HAWC will have an exercise physiologist, nutritionist and other health professionals at the fitness expo offering blood pressure checks, smoking cessation information, body fat calculations and sports and fitness advice. The 366th Medical Group will have a representative to answer questions concerning asthma, skin cancer, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as providing general medical and fitness information. The fitness center and Fit to Fight annex is open from 4:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends and holidays. Fitness center patrons between the ages of 13 to 15 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to attend the classes. Children under the age of 13 are not allowed to attend fitness classes.
