Staff Sgt. Christopher Varnier Unit and duty title: 366th Maintenance Operations Squadron F-15 maintenance instructor Time in Air Force: Five years Time at Mountain Home Air Force Base: Four and a half years Hometown: Mechanicsville, Va. Hobbies: Family, camping, bicycling and playing the guitar What service does Sergeant Varnier provide to the Gunfighters? Sergeant Varnier provides ancillary and F-15 specific training to more than 1,800 personnel assigned to the 366th Maintenance Group. Most memorable Air Force moment: "When Lt. Col. Patrick Ballard notified me of my recent selection to Officer Training School. He explained he had some sad news, and then followed it up by saying he was going to miss me because I was on my way to Maxwell AFB, Ala., for OTS." Interesting personal fact: "I've hiked more than 1,800 miles of the 2,100-mile Appalachian Trail." Why does Sergeant Varnier deserve to be a warrior of the week? "Sergeant Varnier's actions have had a positive effect on the entire wing. Sergeant Varnier excels at all challenges given as evidenced by him winning the 366th MOS Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter in 2008, the John Levitow Award during Airman Leadership School in 2007 and the Maintenance Training Flight Instructor of the Year for Air Combat Command in 2007." Most memorable Air Force moment: "I attended the U.S. presidential speech in Nampa, Idaho, while my F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft flew security patrol overhead." Interesting personal fact: "I won first place in a hometown tractor rodeo in 2001." Why does Sergeant Locklar deserve to be a warrior of the week? "Sergeant Locklar deployed in support of the Weapons Instructor Course at Nellis AFB, Nev., where his expertise was keen in the generation of more than 300 sorties supporting 390.8 training flight hours.
