Sam Pursley threw a three-hitter over five solid innings as the 726th Air Control Squadron "Hardrockers" dominated the 366th Logistics Readiness Squadron B team in a 12 - 1 defeat Aug. 13 in the championship game of the base intramural softball season

The Hardrockers went on a tear in the bottom of the first inning, scoring three runs off of three hits in the frame. Tony Mejia ripped a three-run homerun over the left center fence, which may still be flying.

After Pursley held LRS scoreless in the first inning, including striking out one batter, the 726th ACS continued their aerial assault in the top of the second inning. With two batters on base, Joshua Hill hit a RBI single to right center field. Then Pursley stepped to the plate. With the grunt of a bull moose, Pursley sent the ball screaming over the left center field fence on its way to Anderson Dam for a three RBI homer.

Scott Cote, LRS "B" pitcher, settled down in the third and fourth innings and held them scoreless. Troy Lee led off the bottom of the third for LRS "B" with a single after the 726th ACS second baseman, Sam Rosa, couldn't hold onto the line drive. Lee scored later in the inning on a single to left field by Chris Sage. After four innings, the 726th ACS led 7 - 1.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Hardrockers bats caught fire again, getting seven hits and five runs in the inning. Pursley led off the inning with a double off the left field fence and they never looked back. Mejia, James Austin and Adam Hillis all had RBIs while Rob Banker hit a two RBI bases loaded single to right field.

After holding the 366th LRS "B" team scoreless in the bottom of the inning, the umpire called the game citing the "mercy rule" with the Hardrockers leading 12 - 1.
