XP reminds Gunfighters about force protection procedures Published Oct. 29, 2008 By Master Sgt. Jeanne Hansen 366th Fighter Wing Plans and Programs Office MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Since the wing's operational readiness inspection, everyone may have taken a few moments to step back, catch their breath, and relax. But, we must remember our day-to-day duties and responsibilities involving force protection. Regardless of rank or position, all Gunfighters are inherently charged with staying alert in the protection of the 366th Fighter Wing. In November, there will be another emergency management exercise specifically focused on testing the response capabilities of the entire wing. Some things to remember prior to and during the exercise include: 1.) Stay diligent and if something looks out of place - report it immediately! A.) AFOSI at 828-2297 B.) 366th Security Forces Squadron at 828-2256 C.) Command Post at 828-5800 D.) 366th Fighter Wing Antiterrorism Force Protection Office at 828-4750 E.) Report up the chain of command 2.) Use the SALUTE reporting process S - Size: Number of people, vehicles or size of object A - Activity: Describe what the enemy is doing (assaulting, fleeing, observing, etc.) L - Location: Where the enemy was sited (grid coordinates if possible) U - Unit: Distinctive signs, symbols or uniforms of enemy (personnel, vehicles or weapons) T - Time: Time activity was observed E - Equipment: Type associated with the activity 3.) Communicate, communicate, commuicate 4.) Play for real today to be ready for tomorrow Again, it's imperative to ensure force protection is a priority during exercises and real world incidents. Be prepared for the unexpected. Remember, antiterrorism and force protection is everyone's job.
