366th Electronic Combat Squadron names its Warrior of the Week

Officials with the 388th Electronic Combat Squadron at Naval Station Whidbey Island, Wash., recently named the following Airman as their Warrior of the Week.

Staff Sgt. Candace Thompson

Unit and duty title: 388th Electronic Combat Squadron, noncommissioned officer in charge commanders support staff

Time in Air Force: 10 years

Time at Naval Station Whidbey Island, Wash.: Three years

Hometown: Coshocton, Ohio

Hobbies: "Spending time with my children and swimming."

What service does Sergeant Thompson provide to the Gunfighters? "I manage all the squadron CSS functions and operations resource management flight activities for the Air Force's only unit flying EA-6Bs. I also support 24 rated Air Force officers assigned to five Navy squadrons and the USN EA-6B wing staff."

Most memorable Air Force moment. "I met the first Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, Chief Master Sgt. Paul Airy, at an awards luncheon for winning Air Force Personnelist of the Year in 2004."

Interesting personal fact: "I was a member of the USA Swim Team for eight years. I competed for the Junior Olympics Swim Team during high school."

Why does Sergeant Thompson deserve to be a warrior of the week? "As the only geographically-separated Gunfighters, Sergeant Thompson is the key to our staying connected to the 366th Fighter Wing. Her leadership and professionalism have made her a mentor and role model for NAS Whidbey's Navy, and Marine junior enlisted personnel."
