Flag football season draws to a close Published Dec. 10, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Samantha S. Crane 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- The squadron flag football season drew to a close Dec. 5 with the 366th Logistics Readiness Squadron taking the win. The final game between LRS and 366th Fighter Wing seemed like an open and shut game with LRS two touchdowns ahead and the first half winding down. But FW fought back with a touchdown with seconds to spare only to go scoreless in the second half while LRS racked up another two touchdowns. The final score was 25-6 in favor of LRS. "It feels really great to win the championship," said Mark Heil, 366th LRS team coach. "All of the hard work we put into preparing for the season paid off; that's probably the most rewarding feeling." Notably absent from the field was the seemingly undefeatable 366th Security Forces Squadron who fell to the 366th FW in the fourth round of finals Dec. 4. "All year we've been hearing how good SFS is," said Chris Riley, 366th FW team coach. "They beat us pretty good the first time we played, so to end their streak and get to the championship was good. I don't think we had a better overall team effort all season during that game." The 366th SFS team managed to maintain some dignity by taking third place overall. "I think that we had a great season we put up a lot of points and kept other teams from putting points up on us," said Christopher Price, 366th SFS team coach. "I'm extremely proud of the season we had and am looking forward to next season."
