On Dec. 15 all Gunfighters - military and civilian - will take time out of their day to remind themselves what being a wingman entails.

"Wingman Day is set aside for leadership and Airmen to pause from the day-to-day mission to discuss important issues, give constructive feedback to leadership, develop the Wingman mentality and make the Gunfighters stronger," said Chap. (Capt.) Steven Barfield, 366th Fighter Wing chaplain and Wingman Day coordinator.

Wingman Day was adopted by the U.S. Air Force in 2004 to celebrate the wingman concept of Airmen helping Airmen.

"Our Airmen are the Gunfighter's most valuable resource," said Chaplain Barfield. "Without our people, the Gunfighters would be no more than technology without purpose and weapons without will. Wingman Day reminds us that we are all connected in accomplishing the wing's mission and now more than ever we must take good care of ourselves and look out for those around us."

With a theme of, "I will never leave an Airman behind," from the Airman's Creed, topics will include, but won't be limited to:
· How to be a better wingman
· Suicide prevention, personal finance, healthy relationships and work related stress
· Unit issues and future teambuilding planning
· Support services and resources

Facilitators from each office will lead discussion and feedback sessions during the first part of the day with groups of 12 people or less. The second part of the day will be spent conducting teambuilding exercises such as service projects, bowling games or fitness center trips.
