Mountain Home Air Force Base's most committed four-legged volunteer, Bailey, recently passed away.

For nine years, Bailey, a Leonberger dog, supported patients at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, and the Mountain Home Air Force Base hospital. Bailey was 10 and a half years old when he passed away.

"He loved everyone - especially children and even tiny babies," said owner Linda Bretz, 366th Mission Support Squadron community and readiness consultant. "He was as much therapy to the hospital staff as to the patients. Bailey was also the 366th Mission Support Squadron's Mascot."

Ms. Bretz would take Bailey to the base hospital for an hour-long visit each week to give needed pet therapy to hospital patients recovering from illnesses or surgery.

"He was truly a gentle giant and loved by all," she said.
