In an announcement Jan. 8, the Air Force selected the 366th Fighter Wing commander, Col. James S. Browne, for a new assignment at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. as the director for Air Force colonel management at the Pentagon.

The Air Force selected Col. John D. Bird II to take command of the 366th FW. Colonel Bird currently serves as the 325th Fighter Wing vice commander at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.

A Feb. 11 change-of-command ceremony is currently in the works.

Colonel Browne took command in September 2007. During his time at Mountain Home AFB, he guided the wing through numerous changes and accomplishments, including the arrival of a Republic of Singapore air force training squadron and a historic visit by the Indian air force. Additionally, the wing was the first Air Combat Command base to pass a combined Phase I and II operational readiness inspection since 2005.
