Suicide Support Group comes to Mountain Home Published Jan. 21, 2009 By Airman 1st Class Samantha S. Crane 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- After experiencing a recent suicide in her own family, Cindy Huggins, commercial travel office travel agent, sought support. "My mother went to a support group in November," she explained. "Then I started asking questions and looking for a group in Mountain Home." But there were none, so it became her personal mission to create one. "Just in November, there were seven deaths of people I knew or were acquainted with, five of them suicides," said Ms. Huggins. "There needed to be something set up here for people to talk." After a few phone calls, Ms. Huggins had the first set of meetings organized. The first meeting will be held Feb. 3 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 7 p.m. Another will be held in town Feb. 17 at the Ratliff Law Office conference room -- 290 S 2nd E St., Mountain Home, Idaho. Meetings will be held in the same locations the first and third Tuesday of every month. "Meetings aren't only for people who lost family members or friends," said Ms. Huggins. "They are also for survivors of suicide attempts. If there's anyone contemplating suicide, I would hope they would come to see the other side."
