A winter camp for Idaho's National Guard and Reserve families has been expanded to include active military personnel and family members from Mountain Home Air Force Base.

The Camp gives Gunfighters the opportunity to share an adventure in the mountains Feb. 27 through March 1 near Sun Valley, Idaho. Participants will build snow caves, track animals, ride in a horse-drawn sleigh, learn survival skills, go "Night Tubing" and take a trek on either snowshoes or cross-country skis at the Central Idaho 4-H Camp.

The $35-per-person cost includes lodging, meals, snacks, equipment, activities and a deluxe bus ride from Mountain Home.

The camp is open to service and family members of Idaho's National Guard and Reserves, and Mountain Home, including spouses who are on their own. Children must be at least 10 years old and accompanied by one or more adult family members.

"We are delighted to work with our military and community partners to host this camp," said Sue Philley, program director for University of Idaho's 4-H Military Partnership Program, Operation: Military Kids, which is sponsoring the event. "Activities are planned that will help parents and youth strengthen their communication and team-building skills while they have a memorable outdoor experience."

The pre-registration deadline is Feb. 6. Approximately 50 people may attend. For more information, call Mrs. Philley at (208) 334-2328 or sphilley@uidaho.edu.
