Airbase Road intersection slated for traffic improvements

Improvements to the intersection at Airbase Road and Bruneau Highway on the western side of Mountain Home are scheduled to begin March 12.

In a statement released March 4 by the Idaho Transportation Department, the project includes adding a traffic signal and turn lanes on the Bruneau Highway and Elmcrest Street sides of the intersection.

Airbase Road serves as the primary route between the city of Mountain Home and the Air Force base located approximately eight miles from the edge of town.

During the two-month, $514,000 construction project, construction workers expect to restrict traffic flow at the intersection to one inbound and one outbound lane on Airbase Road, especially from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. The center turn lane on Airbase Road should also remain open. Construction workers will also keep one lane open on the Elmcrest Street and Bruneau Highway sides of the intersection. Flaggers will help guide traffic during the project.
