Construction to begin on parking lots in dorms Published May 19, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Brian Stives 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Construction to implement anti-terrorism/force protection measures to the parking lot area will begin June 1 between dorms 2422 and 2416 and a small parking lot at the dining facility side. The $1.1 million construction project is expected to be completed by the end of January 2010 and will include many new features. The project will also include resurfacing the parking lot at the library end of the building. "We will install new landscaping, planters, sidewalks, pavers, river rock and benches," said David Phillips, 366th Civil Engineer Squadron unaccompanied housing chief. "We will also have Building 2422 repainted to match the appearance of surrounding dorms. Several features of the project improve the quality of life for its residents. "Dorm residents will see a huge improvement in appearance and quality of life as a result of this project," said Mr. Phillips. "Door canopies over the main entrances will be added to protect people entering and exiting the building and the mechanical room doors will be replaced. However, the biggest commitment the base is providing to improve the quality of life to the Airmen in the dorms is the construction of an outdoor amphitheater." The 366th CES Dormitory Management Office is asking for assistance from the first sergeants and current dorm residents to identify the vehicles of residents currently deployed or on leave, so they can get these vehicles moved out of the area. If you have any information to help move a vehicle, call 828-2244.
