Environmental assessment for proposed airspace changes is available

  • Published
The U.S. Air Force has prepared a draft environmental assessment to analyze the proposed action and three alternatives for airspace boundary changes in the Mountain Home Range Complex for Mountain Home Air Force Base. Expansion of current military operations areas and connection with high altitude airspace parcels currently authorized for use outside the existing Paradise East and Paradise West MOAs over Oregon and Nevada is being proposed. The proposed action involves expanding the current 7,501 square nautical mile (NM) training airspace to 9,680 square NM. The operational floor in non-restricted airspace in Paradise East and West MOAs would be lowered from 14,500 feet above sea level to 10,000 feet above sea level or 3,000 feet above the ground level, whichever is higher. The draft EA presents an analysis of the proposed action for 3-dimensional expansion of the airspace, as well as assessing all alternatives for accomplishing this airspace expansion, including the "no-action" alternative.
