389th FS names its warrior of the week Published July 28, 2009 MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho -- Senior leaders with the 389th Fighter Squadron recently selected the following individual as their warrior of the week. The recognition program highlights members of the 366th Fighter Wing who make significant contributions to their unit and the base. Capt. Justin Sime Unit and duty title: 389th FS scheduler and F-15E Strike Eagle pilot Time in Air Force: Six years Time at Mountain Home Air Force Base: Four months Hometown: Des Moines, Iowa Hobbies: Biking, golfing and running What service does Captain Sime provide to the Gunfighters? "As a squadron gets ready to deploy, there are many tasks that must be accomplished. For a flying squadron, there is the unique requirement for every crew member to accomplish required monthly sorties. In the 389th FS, there are 59 pilots and weapons systems officers who need to be scheduled. This entails working around those 59 individual schedules to fill cockpits, tower positions and various wing meetings." Most memorable Air Force moment. "That would have to be when I was an instructor pilot as a second lieutenant. Out of pilot training, I was selected to go to pilot instructor training to learn to teach new students how to fly. I can remember one of my first students; he graduated from the Air Force Academy in the same class as me, and here I was teaching him to fly in a multi-million dollar airplane. It was then that I realized the opportunities the Air Force offers." Interesting personal fact: "I was once in a high-stakes dance-off and named the victor. It was also my first dance-off." Why does Captain Sime deserve to be a warrior of the week? "Without the tireless efforts of Captain Sime, the 389th FS would not have been able to fill all required events for the week. This would have resulted in Air Force assets going under-utilized and valuable training missed for aviators, air traffic controllers and maintenance personnel. In addition, Captain Sime has volunteered to work through the weekend as a spokesman for the Air Force at the upcoming Sioux Falls Air Show." -- Capt. Joshua Schore, 389th Fighter Squadron operations flight commander
