Secretary Michael B. Donley and Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz named July 2009 to July 2010 as "Year of the Air Force Family," but at Mountain Home AFB, this concept is nothing new according to the 366th Force Support Squadron commander and deputy director.

"This is not a new focus for us," said Blaine Miller, 366th FSS deputy director. "Our focus has always been on Gunfighter families, and our programs have always backed up that theme."

While Air Force wide key objectives include offering affordable family housing, strengthening educational initiatives for children, making childcare more affordable and continuing to improve care for wounded warriors, Mountain Home's focus will be more personal.

"FSS will continue to focus on the Gunfighter community as a family whether you're single or have children or a spouse," said Maj. Eileen Kirkland, 366th FSS commander.

To get the word out, a section of the monthly 366th FSS newsletter will include a family page detailing upcoming events. For single or married Airmen, the 411 program will continue offering events at lower costs.
